Why: Because this is the way computing is going. Research "Grid computing" and look at the market gap.

A carputer like Ashes requires about 1000.00 worth of HW, extensive installation, damage prone, etc., it's not portable (car to car) and requires a phone or an EVDO card to connect to the inet (another required device).

A laptop works for me IF I need XP at home or work and in the car, it’s a little to much for the car thou..

Windows mobile 3.1 or Windows CE has everything needed, it is small and sleek , has plenty of HP capable for reading and pulling e-mail from my outlook inbox, g-mail, tt.net, paypal etc. while one the road and sitting in traffic. Active sync keeps the PPC and laptop in sync. It also provides secure remote VPN access back to our IDN network using RSA keys.

I recently purchased a mount that provided a docking station, DC power jack, small speaker for speaker phone, audio jack for MP3/Sat.

The problem with this solution is I had to also purchase an external GPS receiver and hard wire it in my car (TT). My V1 can’t connect to this mount for power considering the V1 uses RJ-45 connectors.

Another problem is I will have a mess of stuff to take from my primary Z to my other cars if I want GPS navigation via PPC and V1 for vacation/road trips..

I wish there was one mount that would have all of these items integrated into one clean mount for less than 200.00 that was fully portable and very secure.

The mount I purchased doesn’t wire into my HU directly, It requires me connecting a jack to my PPC while in the docking station…. not very clean for playing MP3s…

The windshield mount is stable, however, a quick connect that could be adapted to 4 different vehicles rear view mirror and only have one plug at most would be pimp and very marketable.

You could make this to fit every car with a rear view mirror…
